Whip It review

Watch out boys Juno is on skates now.

Well this weekend may have seemed poor for the debut of Drew barrymore as a director, but i actually found her debut to be greatly successful in other ways. By this I mean in terms of quality. She directed a terrific feel good event with a great cast in great roels. Jimmy fallon is brilliant as a sleazy skater. juliette Lewis is completely believable as a tough skater chick and elln page is made for ehr role as Bliss the girl trying to find herself in the world.

This actually makes me want to skate.

This film is essentailly oridinary about following your heart, but it's well directed which is what gives it so much more emotion and feel good power. You can actually tell drew Barrymore put her sould into this movie because it feels like her character. Her character is instead reflected through Elln Page who excels as Bliss the title character who rebels against her pageant obssessed mother by joining a woman's roller derby team.

Well done Drew, well Done.

I loved the cast, acting and directing that was displayed by this movie. Drew barrymore literally took a beating while making this movie and if you don't believe me just watch the movie. This film was built around the eprformances of Page, Lewis and Marcia Gay Harden who is terrific as the conservative mother. i wouldn't expect anything less from Mrs. Harden.

This also berings me to the question as to why nobody saw this delightful gem. The theater in town instead chose to accept All about Steve over Whip It which morally takes a large dump of fecal matter on any respect for true quality films. Hopefully whip It will play in more theaters because it's a great and moving film which should have been a box office success like zombieland.
