Well i guess many responses as to what films were best for the year of 2009. Apparently Avatar was the most mentioned, and it was well deserved of the acclaim it received from most critics and audiences. District 9 was also mentioned which I'm sure makes horrorphile very happy because District 9 received great acclaim from him as well as I for it's original story. Hopefully, the sequel can be as good as this original science fiction gem that didn't rely on visual effects as it did on it's brilliant narrative and direction from Neil Bloomkamp. God I hope I spelt that right.
Observe and Report was mentioned and I can understand that in terms of it's offbeat and raunchy comedy style with a very dark Taxi Driver like attitude towards it. Seth Rogen delivered his best non judd Apatow role to date. If only critics could see this little films dark brilliance like they did for Worlds Greatest Dad.
At least this year the science fiction and horror genre was great in terms of quality films. We had break out horror hits like Paranormal activity and great old school campy horror like drag Me to Hell and Trick R Treat.
To round up the new year I'll say that it had more good than bad, but it wasn't as lively expect for these gems and some decent blockbusters that were excellent, and I don't mean Transformers 2.
I've seen the early preview of 2010 and the movies look awesome and hopefully the hype delivers this time around especially in the Summer time.
Anyway Happy New year's everybody.
