Steven Speilberg to remake Oldboy with Will Smith

I was so angry with Speilberg after he made Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that I couldn't believe that this was the man who was once ignored when he produced commercial hits that had classic art value to them. This was the man who made visual effects popular with Jurassic Park and the old Indiana Jones with George Lucas. He completely sold out and made our Indiana Jones into the cheesiest pile of glorified commercial crap that I had ever seen. He gave effects a bad name in this movie and the critics this time as usual bowed down and kissed his rear end with good reviews.
Now when Speilberg gets a chance he remakes a classic horror film that's actually a revenge film that's true art, this film he's remaking is Oldboy. He stars Will Smith who may be a talented actor and all, but he is not meant for this kind of part. This is a film meant to shock and mesmerize not rack up box office wealth as if either Steven or Will actually need any. Well I guess Steven wants to make up for producing Transformers 2 and Eagle Eye yet he still made millions off of both.
I get tired when my country takes movies from other countries and screws them up. i never thought Speilberg would do it. i thought he'd just remake old american tales into good movies. Oldboy doesn't need a remake. It's pure art and realism at it's finest. Unfortunately he intends on remaking it though. This is great we get to see a shocking U.S. version that isn't nearly as shocking or as memorable as the original. With Will Smith, we'll find added humor which is unnecessary. I hope they change their mind.
The bottom line is I'm tired of my country being known for stealing movie ideas and bastardizing them for commercialism. These directors haven't done anything worthy and artistic since they're never recognized for it. So we re going to be stuck with the same old watered down American filmmaking that ruins what is made in film from other countries.
At least I can get my anger off this film, because sadly matt reeves is going to remake another true piece of art known as Let the right One In. they're going to change the name too, but it won't matter because when the beautiful story changes so does the quality of a once great movie.
