Well Sam Raimi has been busy lately with his acclaimed horror masterpiece drag Me to Hell and Spiderman 4 in the works you'd think he'd take a break. You are sadly mistaken. It appears that Sam Raimi is going to direct a big screen movie based on the hit computer game series World of Warcraft. It's just going to be called Warcraft though.
I think that this will give video game fans a lot of hope for a game movie adaptation that is actually good. Since when have we had a good video game adaptation into a movie. Doom sucked entirely and so did every movie by Uwe Boll. Peter jackson has yet to make Halo because the production company is nervous about the budget yet they have enough to make District 9. So i think that if a video game movie gets a good and established director than your usual independent and commercial directors then this film could be great. Which is why I'm excited that Sam Raimi is doing this.
Sure some fans are pissed that Sam Raimi has gone mainstream, but give the guy a break he is at least more creative in movies than most directors. It took him forever to make it into this business after The Evil Dead which I hope to god he doesn't remake. So maybe this movie will distract him from that project. now if The Evil Dead had a sequel that might be interesting as long as the original isn't remade and if there is a sequel we better have Bruce Campbell.
Anyway this looks like it could be really good for video game movies and hopefully really entertaining for us. Sam Raimi is going to start this project right after he finishes Spiderman 4. Let's just hope that its not Spiderman 3 all over again. This time the movie will be financed by the production company whop brought us the Dark knight so this will be sweet.
