Review Land of the Lost
June 7th 2009 14:28
This weekend the newest movie entitled Land of the Lost starring will Ferrell arrived in theaters. Yes another random update of another old television show. The only difference is that while the series was campy in a good way. this version is campy in a wasteful, almost laugh free sort of way just about ten times dirtier than anyone could have ever imagined.
When Will Ferrell made Semi Pro, it was a clunker at the box office and hopefully this movie will be a clunker just to get these studios to think straight before they ruin another remake of an old television show. This movie should teach viewers that just because its advertised during the superbowl doesn't mean its always good., but i'm sure people will see this turd unfortunately, because its got Ferrell in it.
When a movie wastes this much talent it amazes me. Its wasting the talent of Danny Mcbride who was hilarious in the Pineapple Express and Tropic thunder. It wastes the talent of Good Will who has had good success in even the most ludicrous comedies that are produced by former Saturday night live alumni. Yet everything else that Ferell has tried to do hasn't been spectacular or even good when made by anyone else except for Stranger than Fiction and Old school
In these tough times we need to see movies that are worth the buck and this movie just doesn't cut it. If your looking for big laughs check out the hilarious "the hangover", which will make you laugh and laugh unlike Land of the lost where you'll just lose your brain cells. The hangover ironically was directed by Todd Philips, a director who actually worked with Will Ferrell on the hilarious Old school.
Final score: D
