Dunk Films - by Christopher Waldeck

Old Dogs is a disgrace to the movies.

November 29th 2009 00:26
Remember when robin Williams was a brilliant actor who picked and chose what films he wanted to star in for artistic quality. Well that began to change when he just started to star in whatever comedy came even if they didn't work. Well there is no excuse for why he starred in such a craptacular movie like this one. I'm not surprised that John Travolta would take this work based on other career choices he's made, but at least when he made his movies, it was due to passion not money. Battlefield Earth was horrible, but Travolta loved it so much that he began to fund it himself at one point. I'm not surprised that seth green is in this because he needs a film role I guess. I hate how so many people gush over how funny Seth Green was in such an unfunny bear scene in the trailer. He may be good at robot chicken, but he's embarrassing in all his other films.

Clearly everyone wanted a paycheck for this film and flushed away their dignity along with the fat check in the bank. maybe it's because the director also helmed the overrated and too successful to be true shit fest known as Wild Hogs. We can also blame the lame and childish humor on Disney. Well for whatever reason everything sucked in this film. The plot, the script, the poor attempt at humor, and the fact that great talent has sold it's worth for a price tag.

I'm truly ashamed to admit that this film also has the final appearance of Bernie Mac. Yes that's right Bernie Mac! This film also squanders Matt Dillon. All this talent was wasted in this film through broad acting which is actually acceptable when you consider the script they had to read off of. This is pure hollywood garbage which only exists to suck the money out of our wallets so they can try to recreate a Wild Hogs.

i hope nobody sees this poorly made film and instead watches a great film like Fantastic Mr. fox which ought to kick Pixar out of it's Oscar spotlight this year for animated feature. This film is almost as good as Couples Retreat which was god awful considering the potential that it had, but this wasn't supposed to be good in the first place and was even lower than my expectations. The only film keeping it away from the worst film of the year is All About Steve.
