My Bloody Valentine 3D sequel dismissed by Lionsgate in dumbest studio move to date

August 23rd 2009 01:19
In the dumbest move made by a studio to date Lionsgate has decided not to make a sequel to the surprisingly good and successful remake of My Bloody Valentine 3D. Now I usually believe that horror movies shouldn't have sequels especially remakes, but this was a good horror movie and it didn't deserve the brushing off by lionsgate that it received. When the movie was brought up the studio buried it by saying that it's success was a fluke and couldn't be repeated. Is that anyway to treat an awesome character like Harry Warden, the crazy psychopathic coal miner who has taken possession and brainwashed Tom. This would've been an awesome sequel especially with the awesome gore that was in the remake and how well it worked in 3D. They'd just need better actors and it would have been great.

However, this movie gets buried by Lionsgate despite getting decent reviews and making a ton of money. It could've had at least one good sequel. I mean dear god if you can make eight washed up Saw movies than you can sure as hell make a sequel to this awesome character. Most may disagree with me, but i personally thought both my Bloody valentines were great as slasher films rather than torture porn and this character doesn't have as much depth as other horror characters which adds to it's mysteriousness and creepiness. Who are you more afraid of jigsaw, a dead cancer patient who only appears in the flashbacks of an uninteresting antagonist and the same old twist after twist every movie or an unstoppable and super strong evil coal miner.

I want to hear the horror community's reaction to this. Leave your comments on this post if you agree with me or not. I must at least mention that there is one good studio who was smart enough to boost this character. Harry Warden will now be a character at Universal studios Halloween horror nights haunted house or maze in the My Bloody valentine set.

Finally, we have another reason to love Universal studios almost enough to make up for gI Joe the Rise of Cobra. You know what never mind that's still not even close.

I highly agree that there should be a sequel to this. I think Jensen pulled off the role quite well. The 3d effects were refreshing and I have to admit that I have seen this movie about 3 times already. Lionsgate are dumba**es for not putting one together already
