Immortals is big, violent, visual and fun

This immortals is a fun movie. It is not intended to be fun which is its major flaw because it appeals to an audience of gore hungry, testosterone juiced frat boys, and muscleheads. That is because the violence is so vivid and graphic that it appears to be made just for that genre. Seeing that this movie is from the producers of 300 this is no surprise. Tarseem Singh directs the visuals amazingly as usual if you've seen his previous efforts such as The Cell and the Fall. Hopefully his upcoming Snow White movies is at least better when it comes to storywise because this film suffers from it. It grows so warped in its fanboy pleasing gore that it forgets just how great of a film that tit can be.
It saddens me to see a movie with great potential squandered, but this is what happens with this movie. It has interesting characters and some hilarious casting like Mickey Rourke, who seriously deserves better than this, and John Hurt in his small role as an old man. The casting of Stephen Dorrif is cool because it shows he is gaining larger roles especially after his wonderful performance in Sofia Coppola's Somewhere, and I'm glad to not see him in Buck Larson again. That movie needs to be erased from memory as it has been shown to kill intelligence faster than the horrid Jack and Jill.
Hopefully next time they find a better way to mix violence and a plot because this film has glorious gore, beautiful violence, but sadly no plot to drive it anywhere near coherency.
