I'll give Jerry Bruckheimer credit for trying to produce his first 3D film mainly because he needed a good marketing ploy for this film. This is an animated film that feels like nothing new or original and in fact it's quite average. You could take any other action plot form any mainstream action film and add some rodents as your heroes and you've got this movie. This basically like throwing a bunch of chipmunks from an old show and have them sing rap music in order to advertise the music industry because that's the only level of brain dead entertainment that they can appeal audiences too and get funding for. It's more of a why bother move like changing Scifi to Syfy, and have the original movies still suck.
This movie had a very talented cast of voice actors and live action actors. i mean since when can you hear the lovely voice of Penelope cruz in an animated film or Nicholas Cage. Actually now that you think about it what doesn't Nicholas Cage do and star in. Zack Gilofankis deserved a better film than this after he did the Hangover. If you see him in this movie he feels watered down compared to the Hangover.
However, the 3D is still good as always but if you want a better 3D film see My Bloody Valentine 3D or any Spy Kids movie except for the Sharkboy and Lavagirl fiasco. The only time you should see any character named Sharkboy is in TNA, and even that show is hard to stomach nowadays.
The theme is interesting about a group of secret agents who are rodents that are our last hope for survival when a diabolical billionaire decides to use common household appliances to execute he devious plan. These cuddly critters must take him down. Basically, this is a concept that someone on the cartoon network could think of in a pitiful attempt to replace Toonami, which actually had good plots to it.
If your looking for a movie for the kids to see this would be it unless they haven't seen Up or harry Potter. However, this is really just another producer credit for Jerry Bruckheimer which doesn't add or do much for him except generate a simple buck, like Jerry Bruckheimer's many odd choices for films to finance. this is really just a film to attract audiences who are attracted to critters and are foolish enough to think that this movie is G.I. Joe.
