Dunk Films - by Christopher Waldeck

Everybody watch Drag me to hell

June 16th 2009 19:32
This is what I get so intense about and that is when a great movie is ignored because everybody just thinks that it will suck. This is the wrong movie to come to immediate accusations about. Sam Raimi returned to horror just to give back to his fans who still credit him as a master of horror. This genre gave Sam raimi his fame and jump started his career with two of the greatest scary movies ever made. They are the Evil dead and Evil dead 2. After nobody watched Army of darkness Raimi left the genre and made mainstream movies and became a huge success.

However, after Spiderman 3, and countless producing credits on terrible horror movies Sam Raimi went back to the genre and created a movie to show that he still had the horror spirit left in him. The movie is drag me to Hell and its the best horror film in two decades if not one of the best films of the year. Yet people still continue to ignore this movie.

It has great reviews including a B on yahoo. It has a score of 83/100 meaning Universal acclaim on Metacritic and even a 94% fresh on rotten tomatoes. How long has it been since Rotten Tomatoes has given a horror movie reviews that good. Yet all the people still ignore it just assuming that it will be another bad horror movie, and instead they spend their money on a critically lambasted movie like Imagine That or Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian.

I've seen drag me to hell plenty of times and I know that it's worth the money. So if nayone still believes in quality horror films and quality movies altogether watch Drag me to Hell, and view horror as its meant to be seen.

Chris, you seem pretty fired up about this flick. I'm trying to resist watching any trailers, so I can come in cold, so to speak. To be honest, I've not been a fan of much of Raimi's work of late. I'm not a fan of the Spider-Man franchise, and I'm not a fan of the two Evil Dead sequels, nor Dark Man either. I do love The Evil Dead though, was lucky to see it at a festival when it was first released down under.
Drag Me To Hell hasn't been released here in Australia yet.
