Best film of 2009: Readers opinion

December 29th 2009 21:15
I want all my fellow readers to comment and let me know what they felt was the best film of 2009. After all everyone has different opinions and in this years long list of great movies that did come out, i want to hear your thoughts.

The golden globes have been released with various amounts of choices. Some have greatly disappointed me while others have been very good. I'm just glad that nothing for New moon has been nominated except for probably visual effects, which is fine with me because it will still lose that award.

I want to hear your thoughts on golden globes, Hollywood, and whatever craziness went down this year in 2009 that relates to film.

This is your chance people before I end the year with my top picks. I'm very eager to hear your thoughts.

I hope every reader had a great holiday last week and I hope everyone has a great start to their new year.

I'm completely torn. My two great loves are sci-fi and horror... and I'm completely ripped between District 9 (arguably the best sci-fi movie in years) and Drag Me To Hell (Raimi back at his best).

I mean, what a year for someone with my tastes, we got Avatar, D9, Star Trek, even Monsters Vs. Aliens for great sci-fi, and Zombieland, DMTH, Paranormal Activity, and a few others in the horror dept.

I was completely blown away by Avatar. Such an imaginative creation, the planet, the people the plnt life the animals. Imagine a six-legged horse! After awhile I completely forgot that it was all invented.

Avatar hands down and not only for best film of the year - for all time. First film to knock out my best film of all time in 14yrs.

I have my own top 10 films of the year - you can suss them all out HERE

I wish I had got to see Hurt Locker and Moon though

I'm glad to hear that at least somebody mentioned drag me to Hell. I'll agree that avatar was amazing, but it's not the best film of the year compared to the The Hurt Locker which is easily one of the best films of the decade and the best movie out this year.

Avatar is easily a landmark in visual effects and new technology that was designed to wow audiences into imagination of this new world and feel like it was real. The story was plain like the critics said, but it was purposely plain and similar to many other stories because it was simple and it allowed you to become mesmerized in the awesome world of Avatar.

I'm puzzled by Observe and report being mentioned, but I can understand how it can be considered a great film. It's a different kind of film and it's easily in my opinion the best performance of Seth Rogen's career. it was just too dark and disturbing for many critics and audiences alike. However, i do believe that it was a highly underrated film if not one of the best.

This was easily the best year for horror and science fiction in ages.

I think the main reason for Avatar's generic plot is because it would be way too much of a gamble to attempt anything else when you pour over $280 million into making it.

Observe and Report is a dark comedy masterpiece. It's the closest that anyone has ever gotten to remaking Taxi Driver successfully.
