Dunk Films - by Christopher Waldeck

Another major hangover

June 16th 2009 18:51
According to the box office report that I've received, the Hangover once again reigned supreme at the box office as it was able to maintain its position over the Two new major releases known as The Taking of Pelham 123 and Imagine That.

While one of these new films had a decent but not incredible box office debut the other was a flop. Sorry Eddie looks like its back to the fat suit or praying for a Dreamgirls sequel.

Up retained its second place which is expected because its Pixar so that probably came as no surprise. Night at the museum is still very alive at the box office despite being critically mixed and simply average to begin with. Well I guess its what makes the kids happy. I'll wait for another tropic thunder like film rather than watch this one.

Luckily, the hangover is still the number one movie in America which shows everybody likes a good drunk buddy comedy in Las vegas. It pulled in 32 million that's almost half of Harrison Ford's salary! like OMG man! This raised its total to 104 million while Up made 30.7 million raising its cumulative gross to 187 million.

Rounding out the bottom five were Land of the Lost with 9 million, Imagine That with 5.5 million, Star Trek with 5.4 million bringing its total to 234 million. Well at least Eddie Murphy was able to beat two big blockbuster in its sixth week.Terminator continues to fall without Arnold to 4.7 million, Angels and Demons was next with 4.1 million bringing its total to 123.1 million well at least its faring better overseas in the 383 million, and sadly the last was Drag Me to hell with 3.9 million.

Well the box office this week was acceptable if not remarkable when comparing the usual summer box office around this time. At least the good movies were seen more than the bad ones. Well somebody please watch Drag Me to hell, so SamRaimi can keep making films like this. It's a good Movie!
