Dunk Films - by Christopher Waldeck

3D is the new horror

August 14th 2009 03:02
I just learned some very valuable information about upcoming horror films. They're nearly all going 3D. I guess My Bloody valentine, and Coraline became hits in 3D, so now every horror film is going 3D again. Good god first torture porn came back and now 3D.

Well let's hope that these 3D movies are good, and they don't end up like Friday the 13th part 3 in 3D. We've got some crappy 3D attempts like Piranha in 3D though with the director of the remake of The Hills Have Eyes and high tension behind it we should have an interesting if not downright cheesy remake. Though it stars Eli Roth so if he gets eaten that'll be hilarious and awesome. Richard Dreyfuss is also for some reason going to be in this film. However, it looks like the whole set was drowned in blood so this out to be a treat for gore hounds worldwide.

Underworld 4(yes unbelievable a fourth one), with Kate Beckinsale supposedly. That could be really awesome in 3D if it was used properly. The Underworld series is known for its effects driven action, so it will be interesting to see how this one will do in 3D. I'm sure horny dudes could imagine Kate Beckinsale in 3D, but true horror fans should be imagining the gore and in your face action.

Saw 7. Yes this is supposed to be in 3D. Maybe we'll have some great shots of limbs flying off and much more gore. This is probably not going to be very good, quality wise, but at least it will give this film something else to be hyped for besides a shocking twist repeated and reiterated over and over again, oh and perhaps some better editing.

The Final Destination. This film was basically made for 3D. Seriously, if you've seen the first three movies i shouldn't even have to tell you have great the effects are going to be in 3D.

Well this looks to be an interesting lineup of 3D movies I just hope this whole 3D concept doesn't become to overused and watered out. This could happen when you compare these films to James Cameron's upcoming 3D visual feast known as Avatar.

Count me among the few people getting really tired of the 3D thing. Don't get me wrong, when done well it is brilliant, but it seems that it's going a little overboard. I find the glasses tedious and the 3D itself comes across as gimmicky at times. I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't want a day to come where I have to pay an extra couple of bucks for every damn movie just because of this 3D business!

I agree with you fully. Luckily select theaters are showing the 3D films in 2D in order for the customers to save on cash.
